2006 in Pictures

  During February 2006 the engineers moved into Torquay. 
The fGW franchise started in April, here two  colourful 153s descend into Torquay.
Many class 31s came down to devon on route learning.
During 2006 fGW have re-engined many of their HST power cars. Here 43009 is seen in the old 'new' fGW livery.
The Railtours started in June. Here a 47 storms up Goodrington bank.
MML HSTs were used for Virgin services during the May bank holidays.
Class 47s were used on numerous stock moves for fGW
158741 visited the South West from Scotland to celebrate the new franchise.
The royal train also visited.
The SDR held a smashing Diesel Gala in June.
The Blue Pullman first visited Paignton in July.

GNER HSTs were also common on the Morning Paignton-Newcastle SO service.
King Edward also made an appearance on weekly SuO Torbay Express trips from Bristol-Kingswear.
From summer many 158 from TPE have come to the SW, displaced by the new 185s.
47s still continue to work on the preserved Okehampton line.
MML HSTs reached Newquay in summer.
A few Central 158s worked in the area during summer.
Class 40145 whistled through Newton Abbot on one of the numerous tours to Penzance.
37405 also made its way down South
The Eden Ex was also a common sight.
57303 was the first 57/3 to make it into Cornwall
37406 was then next EWS 37 to come to the South West on charters.
The Blue Pullman came down to Paignton again in late summer.
The last summer tour to Torbay was blessed with glorious... rain.
The Intercity Merrymaker made its first visit to Paignton in October
6024 also ventured down to Penzance in October.
The second batch of engineers caused chaos in the half term week.
Many class 59s can be found around Westbury in Wiltshire.
D1015 Western Champion had a fantastic run down to Penzance in late October.
fGW's power car re-engining programme continues.
The Blue Pullman was hauled to Buckfastleigh by a class 37 for the first time in October.
On the same day a class 57 was sent from Laira to pick up a failed voyager at Totnes.
During November the SDR held a fantastic diesel gala in aid on 09002.
A fGW MTU lead the down Royal Duchy in late December sun.
